Metallic finish

These beads have a clay base which is fired in a kiln, then covered in copper, fired again, and then covered in the final metal before being fired for a third time. The metal layer is considerably thicker than in electroplated beads, and so wears better.

It is important to note that it is part of the character of these beads that the sizes, and also the smoothness of the metal layer can be variable. For example, the thickness of individual washers, or the lengths of tubes will vary, and the silver coating on nuggets in particular may be smoother on one part of the bead compared to another. This is not "scratching" nor does it indicate a flawed batch - it is simply the nature of these beads to be slightly irregular.

My customers, many of whom have been buying regularly from me over the past few years, find this individuality appealing. but if you like regular perfection then perhaps these beads are not for you. If you would like to see a sample before purchase, simply email me through the contact page, and I will be happy to send you some to see and feel.
